Great News

We got great news yesterday. We are coming home on Friday. We won't actually arrive in Memphis until Saturday at 2:00 PM if everything goes as scheduled. Ema is adjusting everyday. Please continue to pray that she gets well so that the plane ride home is not torture (not for us but for the other passengers). Our flight does not leave Vietnam until 11:55 PM. If anyone has any tips on how we should plan tomorrow please feel free to post. We are thinking that we should only take 1 nap early/middle of the day then keep her awake as long as we can. Around 11:00 PM give her a bottle with Benadryl. Thanks to EVERYONE that kept up with us on our blog. You will never know how much your concern and prayers mean to us. Here are some pictures from yesterday. Enjoy!

Ema has become the little camera ham! She is such a doll! I can't wait to get to know her! I'm so excited that you will be home this weekend! I know Ema will not be able to have company for several weeks but just knowing you're next door will be wonderful! Maybe I can watch her from my kitchen window until she is ready for company! Your journey has been all our journey! Thanks for sharing! Your walk of faith with our LORD has been a tremendous testimony! I love you and am proud to be your friend!

YEA..YOU ARE COMING HOME. OH I HOPE HER FEVER IS BETTER. SHE LOOKS VERY COMFORTABLE AND JUST THE HAPPIEST LITTLE PRINCESS. I HOPE YOU AND KIRK ARE FEELING WELL. NO GREAT ADVICE ON THE PLANE RIDE. I DON'T THINK YOU CAN MAKE 20 HOURS GOOD. JUST DO THE BEST YOU CAN AND TRY TO KEEP DOING WHAT YA HAVE BEEN DOING IN THE HOTEL. MAYBE THE PLANE WILL HAVE A MOVIE. YOU WILL MAKE IT. YOU'VE MADE IT THIS FAR AND TIME IS ON YOUR SIDE IT WILL NOT STOP SO 20 HOURS WILL BE OVER BEFORE YOU KNOW IT AND YOU WILL BE BACK IN THE RICHARDSON HOME USA. I KNOW YOU WILL BE SO TIRED AND OVERWHELMED JUST REMEMBER EVERYONE IS YOUR FRIEND AND IF YOU NEED A BREAK FROM TALKING OR YOUR TIRED, EMA IS TIRED BE HONEST AND TELL PEOPLE YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HURT ANYONE'S FEELINGS. EVERYONE IS SO EXCITED BUT THEY UNDERSTAND. WHEN I TOOK TAYLOR ON A PLANE AT 2 HE DRANK HIS JUICE WHILE WE TOOK OFF SO HIS EARS WOULD POP AND NOT HURT AND I HAD A NOTEBOOK AND WE DREW AND COLORED AND I HAD CHEERIOS IN A BAG AND HE PUT THEM FROM ONE BAG TO THE OTHER AND THIS LASTED FOR ALMOST 2 HOURS. MAY WORK FOR EMA. LOVE YOU GUYS AND I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE ALMOST HOME.. YEA... DAWN

CONGRATS!!! We pray for your safety and of course, we pray you will have a calm, peaceful flight for you and everyone else. We recently made a short flight with Brayley when she was 7 mo. old and Braxton was 3. Our doc told us to give them tylenol/motrin for their ears and as I've read, you know the trick with benadryl. We also kept snacks available at all times. We gave Braxton a sucker for take off and landing and Brayley just drank her bottle take off. They both experienced some "gas" stomach problems when we landed which lasted a total of 20 minutes.
We are so excited for you guys and look forward to meeting her very soon!
***I have Ema a "WELCOME HOME" gift to hang on her door of her nursery. I am going to try to drop it off while one of your family members are at your house checking in on things.
***Braxton & Brayley also have Ema a surprise which will be delivered soon!
CONGRATS AGAIN!!

Can't wait to see her! Your faces are full of love, aren't children wonderful? I will be praying for you as you start a long journey home, and hopefully Ema will adjust quickly to her new home and family. I know your parents can't wait to get there hands on her!

Yipee!!! Benadryl is a parents best friend on flights. We would suggest both of you sleeping as much as possible on the flight. Maria enjoyed walking up the aisles and in the airports. If Ema gets fussy the back of the plane is so noisy you can't really hear much. Most importantly, have other adults there to greet you at home. You and Ema may all have jet lag and someone to help will make it easier. It may take a few weeks to get over- it's harder going West to East.
Ohhh... we're thrilled for you, here is where the trip of a lifetime turns into the adventure of your lives!!!

Emily,
You guys are the new experts on Ema, you now know her better than anyone else in her life. It sounds like you have a good plan so just try to relax. It won't go perfectly. That plane ride would be difficult for any kid, let alone one with so much change in her life. Nice people on the plane will understand, those who don't need lessons in patience anyway! Have a safe trip. I can't wait to meet Ema, whenever you think she is ready.-Shawna
